Electronic drums

Electronic drums have some big advantages over a conventional acoustic drum kit. One advantage is the range of sounds they can produce, which is almost infinite, from the best acoustic drum sounds in the world (recorded with top-of-the-range recording gear) to a vast range of other drum kit sounds for any style or genre of music, or create your own!

Another big advantage is that you can use electronic drums without making significant sound levels. This not only avoids annoying others, but also makes recording easier and avoids damage to the drummers hearing. Added to this, electronic kits are very much easier to store, transport and set up than an acoustic drum kit.

There are a wide range of electronic drums available (more than 9600 electronic drums and related items on Amazon!), full drum sets from around $180 (Ion Computer Drum Kit Nic) up to $7000 and more, and individual and multi drum pads for even less.

Some of the well known and high quality brand names for electronic drums include Roland, Yamaha and Alesis.
