One proud owner says “This kit is near-to-perfect for someone who finds their acoustic kit has become too loud, too big, too difficult to transport, and too time-consuming to set up. #4, and of course, the best electronic drum kit available from any manufacturer, the >TD-20SX (read our report on what users think of it)

There are two basic types of Roland electronic drum equipment. Firstly there are whole drum sets such as the ones above and many other choices. Secondly there are individual units, such as percussion multi-pads (like the SPD-S, and the, SPD20 Total Percussion Drum), and the Rhythm Coach.
The main factor in choosing between Roland drum sets is what you need them for. Obviously the higher-priced sets (such as the TD-20SX, which is around $7000) offer a wider range of expression and sound possibilties, can do more, and are more suited to proffessional use on stage or in the recording studio. The less expensive sets are more suited to beginners, such as the >HD1 (at around $800).
There are many >Roland drum sets in between those two prices, and for those who want something even cheaper, there are kits by other makers such as the >ION IED12 PRO SESSION Electronic Drum Set which is under $400.
